ABOUT US

During the summer of 2005 MK Council’s Children’s Disability Services Team with the help of MK Dons Football in the Community, held some taster football sessions for young people with severe learning disabilities.

Such was the success of these sessions that with the encouragement of parents and players MK Special Dons FC was formed, with their first session taking place on 5th January 2006.

MKS Dons has continued to build on its strong foundations and with the help of its commited volunteers’ and the support of MK Dons FITC, achieved the FA Charter standard Award.

The club holds weekly coaching sessions with the emphasis being on fun and inclusion, with everyone being encouraged to join in and to play as much or as little as they wish or are able.

Coaching sessions are taken by our volunteer coaches with the support of a coach from MK Dons FC Education & Sports Trust (formerly FITC). This support continues a bond with Football First and MK Dons FC Education & Sports Trust that aids the development of the club and it’s coaches and gives our players the opportunity  to wear the MK Dons club kit and colours in representing MK Dons Disability teams in competition.

Organised competition for disability football is in it’s infancy but signs are good with the introduction of some regular annual events that in 2007 included the Oxfordshire pan disabilities football festival as well as tournaments hosted by disability clubs such as Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Stoke City, Oxford and Northampton in addition to our own Bucks County event.
